I came back home last Friday just to discover from my credit card statement that somebody had used my card and spent freakin' RM527.86 via Paypal Singapore, buying what? I don't know but the website was Usbfever. After Googling, I learnt that it was an online shop selling accessories and gadgets for Mac and iphone as well as ipad products. The thing is, I do not have a paypal account in Malaysia, apatah lagi Singapore. And I dah ada cover untuk my phone, so thank you lah memang I takkan masuk website tu.
My online transaction pun boleh dikira dengan jari. Peliks bin ajaib betul! The transaction was however, credited a few days after (reflected in my credit card statement). Fuhhh! But unfortunately, I had to bear the cost of exchange rate difference for a transaction that I did not perform (about RM8.38).
Naturally, I called the bank to enquire but apparently the bank said they do not have details to the transaction and it was presumed to be my act. They were like 'takpelah sebab dah ada credit situ kan'. I was like ok fine, and immediately enquired Paypal Singapore.
Serious I sangat noob terima je apa customer service tu cakap. Bila I tanya adik-adik ipar I, semua kata I should call back and categorise that transaction as a credit card fraud and ask for a replacement card. Pasal RM8.38 tu, they said I should dispute sebab selalunya orang mesti nak dispute walaupun beberapa sen! So I called back and asked for a replacement. Eh senang jer, gitu jer...dalam 1 week leh dapat card baru....cuma dispute tu lambat la sebab they need to investigate. Yer, sila investigate sebab I did not perform that transaction!!
Paypal Singapore pulak reply cepat tapi tak dapat trace transaction tu and asked for my card number. Heck no I'm gonna give my card number. So I just leave it to that.
First sekali kalau terjadi benda camni, terus cancel card tu. Tapi in my case, 1 week after (bila dapat statement) baru tahu transaction tu wujud. So, sebenarnya, its not that timely sebab by the time I dapat statement ntah apa yang mungkin berlaku lagi.
Kedua, rajin-rajin kan lah diri tu kemaskini details dengan credit card supaya bank boleh sms/call whenever ada transaction above certain limit. Masalahnya, my bank cakap I tak hapdet info. I macam 'eee...that was the first thing I did when I changed my number la'...(ini you all yang tak buat keje ni, pastu nak salahkan aku pulak)....
Ketiga, dispute, jangan ambil ringan je. Sebabnya, there is a possibility of re-occurence (bak kata adik ipar I, maybe monthly,or annually)....orang amik duit kita sikit2 lama2 jadi bukit.....
As at today I am still waiting for my dispute form…diorang ni dah lupa gamaknya….
