Library Shah Alam – Part II

Library nowadays are not like the in the olden days… libraries are trendy, user friendly, promotes discussion, technologically advanced and built with a touch of modern architecture…….I wrote once about Sasana Kijang (you can read it here). I also wrote about Library Shah Alam but only the kids area (read it here). This time is the Shah Alam library in which I paid a visit for a purpose; to study…hehehe….

When you reach there, you will have to take off your shoes and put them in a bag, don’t forget to bring them with you…kasut you, tanggungjawab you lah kan….hehehe…

IMG_1842 Opening hours

You can put your valuables in a locker if you don’t wanna carry your bag back and forth between isles…..I think just masuk coins but not sure how much coz I didn’t use it.

IMG_1846 Level directory

You can go to any level that you want actually but most people like the lower ground coz it’s a lot less colder as compared to the upper floors……I like to go to the 4th floor in the morning but gradually sebab terlampau sejuk, I turun ke ground floor…..tapi once bertambah ramai orang, bertambah bising jadiknya…..apa lagi, I pun cucuk telinga lah jawabnya….

Bila tengok students belajar kat sini siap buat group study semua, tetiba teringat zaman kat kolej…seronok time tu, memangla exam is a burden but the fun of being with friends is the best!….zaman kerja ni, makin lama makin hilang kawan-kawan…..

When you are hungry, you can head to the cafe situated just beside the library…food is kinda nice and cheap too!

IMG_1841 Part of the cafe

There is even a gym here so, apa lagi, kalau nak work out sini pun no hal…but I didn’t check whether it’s free or you need to pay….maybe you need to pay?…I’m not sure..

IMG_1840 Gym 3 benda je, but hey, it’s better than one right?

If you would like to borrow the books there, you need to register. It’s free. You can also extend or renew your book loans for a max of 3 weeks. You can do it by phone or by sms. You need to enquire. Kalau nak pulangkan buku, on the way out, you can just deposit the book at one of these machines. Cool kan?….

So, apa lagi, lets go to the library….you can bring your kids but they are only allowed at the kids area…..

Muji Pavilion KL

Mari lupakan kisah tragedi cake pops tu…hehehe…jom pegi Muji……

IMG_1657 Muji Pavilion masa belum bukak

Muji opened in April 2012…I knew about Muji when I was studying in Manchester….bila balik Malaysia memang takde la kan…..dapat pegi Muji lagi masa gi Singapore 2 years back (you can read it here)…pastu, sampai la tanggal 15 April 2012….akhirnya dapat menjejakkan kaki lagi di Muji…tapi kali ini di tanahair tercinta; Pavilion KL.

IMG_1811 Bought a tracing book for Amir- it was RM45 – of course ibu simpan kat tempat rahsia, bila nak guna baru appear…ngeh ngeh ngeh

Masa nak bayar cashier tu tanya “how do you know about Muji?”…I pun cakap “ohh..I know this brand long time dy..from UK”…then he said, “yeah but this shop is not as big as the one in Singapore and Phillipines…. “….\O-o/ I buat muka paham jer…..I said “ I’ve never been to the one in Phillipines….”

Lepas ni nak tengok bila pulak Takashimaya nak masuk Malaysia….Lush pun bila……ohh..H&M kesayanganku pun bila ekk?….

Cake Pops Tragedy

I have never baked in my life. Never. Never touched or feel or even think about it. Last week I thought I'd try to make cake pops (sebab asyik dok layan blog org buat cake pops jer...tetiba terasa nak try buat). To tell you the truth, my cake pops were a tragedy....even Amir didn't want to bring them for his friends. I didn't want to look at the cake lembs (lembik)...they're still in the fridge as I type this. My family, of course cakap sedap but I know it's tak sedap.

I made a simple butter cake the night before the tragedy happened. Butter cake tu fine, jadik. The next day, I went to buy a cake pops kit, all geared up. Ni buku Cake Pops by Bakerella tu.

DSC_0047 Frosting in process

I made my frosting and poured ALL of the frosting in my crumbled cake. It was a tragedy!

Masalahnya buku Cake Pops Kit ni pun just cakap campur cake mix bla bla bla....and then buat frosting instant jer...takde pun resepi nak buat kek or resepi nak buat know, like how to start from scratch. I gigih Google cara-cara nak buat frosting (al-maklumlah, orang noob baking kan...)...memang resepi tu tak sesuai ke apa tapi I rasa tragedi tu memang disebabkan oleh penuangan KESEMUA frosting ke dalam crumbled cake tadi...

It's gonna take some time for me to recover from this tragedy and a few more rounds sampai cake pops boleh jadik cantik, tapi berapa rounds? takkan nak experiment sampai 100 kali kot?.......memang takde bakat langsung! I should just buat keje opis jer...(ayat-ayat sedih dan demotivated)...

Lunch in Anis Putri Corner, Pantai Dalam

It all started with a taste of kuih puteri seri mandi. My friend of this blog went there with her friend and brought back to office lots of kuih-kuih Melayu to share. As awesome as she is, poised and relaxed, she drove us the next day so that we can experience the same feeling of having lunch 'in the beach'. Yes, Pantai Dalam is literally translated as 'In the Beach'.

Along the way we saw many stalls selling fruits, sooo many of them! It's exactly how Krabi looks like in 2006....hahaha....'this is an awesome one hour vacation' (bak kata E)....

IMG_1649 Taktau nama – Tapi sedap giller!

The lunch was quite pricy to me. I took gulai kawah + sayur sejemput + sotong betul…..kalau tak kerana kuihnya yang sedap iteww...tak mungkin datang lagi kot...

IMG_1652 Please don't do this.....

Balik opis je gugel…..rupa-rupanya tempat ni memang glamer…..siap ada plaque JJCM lagi (tahun berapa taktau la pulak)….No wondersss…..

Almiraz Homemade Pacman Pizza

Korang kalu ada kat Manchester sila lah pegi Pizza Co. Masa dulu I memang suka gi sana sebab piza dia sedaps....Ni snapshot depan Pizza Co.

pizzaco PizzaCo, Oxford Road Manchester, UK

Gambar ni pun my friend yang skang kat sana amik kan. Tu laaa masa dulu tak pernah terpikir nak amik gambar2 tempat. Asyik2 amik gambar muka jer...skang nak tulis blog kan susah...(membebel seorang diri)...

Anyway, disebabkan teringat sangat kat Pizza Co, maka I telah terpikir untuk buat piza sendiri….(walaupun rasa tak sama ngan Pizza Co). I used to work in Deliqueen Cafe loooong time ago. Deliqueen Cafe was situated in Kompleks PKNS Shah Alam (which was 'the' most favourite hang out place when I was in school). Di situlah I jumpa Ziana Zain y'all!……heheheh...dia tanya I 'mana sudu sayang?" I macam excited gila dapat cakap ngan Ziana Zain.......heheheheh....

Anyway, reminiscence aside, during my short stint, I learnt to make foods such as roasted chicken and pizza. Sad but true, I can remember only these two recipes (forgive me, it has been 13 years). So, since I found pizza dough in Bagus Seksyen 13 last few weeks, I figured I should do some home made pizza for Amir and my family. I really don't know how to make the dough though, hence I bought them. Anyway, this is the recipe that I learnt from my dear Kak Rose (who has now retired from the cafe business).

IMG_1618 Ingredients for homemade pizza

To make the sauce for the base, you will need:(recipe is for 5 medium sized pizzas)
Mix together:
Tomato Ketchup 1 bottle (I like to use Maggi)
Brown sugar (2 - 3 tbsp)
Oregano ground (2 - 3 tbsp)
Garlic powder (1 tbsp)
And then spread the mixture onto the pizza base. Make sure tepi-tepi base pun cover baru sedap.
For the toppings, you can put anything you want exactly! What I used:

Canned Pineapples (Ayam Brand je sebab murah)
Canned mushrooms (kalau ada fresh mushrooms lagi best)
Capsicum (if you have red, yellow and green pun best, I just used the green one)
Sausage 5 - 6 pieces (potong slice)
Minced beef or chicken (sukati nak apa, I used beef)

IMG_1617 Put all the ingredients on the dough

Lagi best if you have pepperoni. Sini takde pepperoni. So sad :(
It's better if you saute' the sausages and the minced beef first so that you don't have to worry whether it's cooked or not when in the oven. Takut dough tu hangit lak kalau nak tunggu daging masak.
