Hantaran Tunang Ciah

Ciah is my sister-in-law. She recently got engaged. The ceremony was simple and traditional. Ciah does not like exaggeration in anything, she’s just a simple minded lady, hence her event and hantaran was so very simple.

Her hantaran was done by Kak Nani of De Casa Flora. Khidmat Kak Nani ni memang digunakan sejak abang yang pertama lagi, and never change sampaila ke Ciah ni (the only girl and the last one to get married).

Lets look at her hantaran. Gubahan was done by Kak Nani, while the bekas par anak par was my mom’s (pinjam), simply because Ciah wants it raw like that, no kain-kain, no lapik no nothing, which I find very authentic.  Every week she would shine the anak par herself (excited nak kasi kilat). She wanted peonies for her hantaran and succulent-like-leaves to go with it. Bunga Melur was to create some scent to the hantaran.

The cake. The cake was S-E-D-A-P!… it was baked by my biras’s brother (Chef Faris – used to be the dessert chef in KL Convention Centre)…it’s a combination of sweet, sour and lemon-y kinda cake. We all loved it!

The carnation installation. This was for the background of her sarung cincin area. It was done by Ciah herself. She found the inspiration from the internet of course, and wanted to make it a reality. I was already 9 months pregnant masa tu so I tolong sikit-sikit je…

The DIY so called ‘pelamin’. No no Ciah didn’t want any pelamin what so ever…..she just wanted a simple yet sweet seating area to sarung cincin. So, she used the background of her mom’s room (with mini waterfall and some greens), did the carnation installation, polished the floors and cleaned up the wooden chair and walla!

Selamat bertunang Ciah and Khairi!

Wall’s Scoops of Happiness – Stories you can taste

Towards the end of my pregnancy, I received an invitation from Wall’s to attend a bloggers’ event in Publika. I thought “ memang tak dapek la den nak pegi”….agak sedih sikit di situ sebab jarang dapat invitation (but lately asyik dapat invitation yang ice cream aje)…anyway, memang pikir tak pegi lah sebab takut terberanak la pulak kang…

A day before the event, I was restless coz I thought I need to walk to exercise, plus, suddenly terpikir menarik jugak kalau pegi event ni, kira last before beranak kan.. ..hubby turutkan saja….hantar pegi Publika about 12 noon….(dahla jalan jam, so he was annoyed on whyyyyy I must go to the event)….I said I will come back with my sister in law..(nasib baik my SIL keje kat Sapura tu so memang boleh sangat la tumpang dia)..

And so I arrived early, jalan-jalan kat Publika dulu (risau jugak kalau2 sakit ke…)…air ketuban ke apa, dah keluar tapi I rilek je sebab sikit sangat untuk dirisaukan….so, I sampai cafe Mad About Coco about 2:45 pm, took a file, snapped this photo booth picture…

IMG_8037

And then I took my seat. Seriously, I was tired of walking around Publika so memang nak duduk je kat kedai tu, in the mean time, I sempat ambil gambar sikit-sikit. Memang so tired, imagine la I dah 40 weeks, due date masa tu was esoknya so…..penat tu sangat-sangatla kan…

scoops of happiness Shawn Tan, Brand Manager for Wall’s Ice Cream said family bonding is crucial for kids as they grow up

The celebrity guest for the day was Samantha Lee, a well known instagrammer who creates fun, whimsical, colourful, imaginative and healthy food for her kids…memang semua cantik-cantik!…you guys should check her ig its @leesamantha….memang I teruja lah sebab I tak reti, I memang fail bab-bab ni…all her creations for this event can be viewed in her instagram beginning 9 May 2014 onwards.

Ok, lets look at her creations….Her first creation was Chinese Warrior – inspired from Mulan. First, she said she must sketch her creation before making the meals for real.

IMG_8041 Samantha Lee’s sketch and the real meal– tengok sketch dia pun cantik kan?

Her second  and third creation was Pirate of Carribean and The Ice Princess & The Snowman.

So, after her demo, we were asked to form groups of three, I was sitting at the back, memang tak larat nak carik ahli kumpulan, I pasrah je sapa yang jadi groupmates I….sebab I tak larat nak bangun-bangun dah….sekali sekumpulan kawan baiks; Ceera, Kathy, Filla and Elly datang duduk dekat I (I tak kenal pun diorang ni semua…lol blogger la sangat aku nih)….anyway, sebab tak cukup sorang, Filla panggil-panggil Namee join my group….so, Filla and Namee jadikla my groupmates. Masa tu, I dah sketch sikit-sikit nak buat castle (sebab kena tema Fary Tale)….so dapat pikir castle je…

IMG_8046 Filla and Namee – nice meeting you both!

IMG_8053 Our creation: Castle in the Garden

I sketched the castle idea but after that Filla and Namee got loads of ideas, mencurah-curah pulak idea diorang nih…Namee said she can make the marshmallows tergantung like KLCC bridge gitu….I ok kan saja idea diorang nih…and Filla pulak betul-betul great sport lah…I memang takyah gi mana-mana…Namee and Filla were the ones yang gi balik gi balik amik bahan nak deco….wahhh betul-betul duduk mak buyung nih…

After that we had some food, mak buyung tak sempat snap gambar makanan, lapor sangat lol….Masa tgh makan tu diorang tanya my name and dengar-dengar castle…so when they announced the winner is….”the girls with the castle in the garden”….whoahhhhh…gembira gitu…iollss menang!!…hadiah worth RM400 katanya…apa la agaknya kan…

Lunch and Dinner at Jibby & Co

A new hangout and makan place situated in Empire Subang, this place is what I call the new age dining place. The foods are all tasty, desserts are to die for and the environment is cosy, the service is not bad too…

We had a birthday dinner here for my brother, paid by my youngest brother, but I went there first with my friend (after looking at Fiena’s instagram about Jibby & Co’s soft shell crab burger)…Unfortunately the day I went with my friend, Jibby was experiencing shortage of water so no food and drinks can be prepared for patrons. I had a chit chat with the owner and ate a delicious piece of Beyonce!…and drank cola lime frost.

Lets look at the deco and the interior. Memang cun! I suka sangat.

Now lets see what we had during the dinner. Jibby & Co does not take reservations, semuanya walk-in sahaja but I managed to make a reservation coz I pujuk-pujuk Qiss…(the owner) ….hehehehe

jibby n co 4 Basil pesto RM28

For the desserts, we ordered Meteor, Nanalicious – I think I just remember that coz these 2 are my favourites! Best giller! Picture, tak sempat nak snap pulak. But, it was 2 of the cakes in the picture below:

IMG_7807 Happy birthday Tuwin!

Tapi ada satu benda yang kelakar, we ordered ice cream with crispy waffle. Ni ha…

ice cream in jibby' Amar having ice cream with crispy waffle

Mesti korang pelik kan?….I mati-mati ingat waffle macam ala-ala A&W tu…yang besarrr tuu….tapi, apa kan daya, dah ini yang dikatakan crispy waffle tu - buat sendiri…so….pasrah je lah k if you order it…

Tak puas lagi tu, I had lunch a few weeks after the dinner with hubby and Amar sebab nak rasa soft shell crab burger. I also had this:

coco loco in jibby Coco Longo RM19 (my favourite!), Lychee Mint RM15, Orange juice RM12, Sweet potato fries and Turkish bread (makan ngan soup) – oh my Turkish bread tuuuu…….lembut giller!

So that was it. A big makan-makan, a whopping RM600 ++ for the dinner and nearly RM200 for the lunch (coz I ordered meteor and nanalicious as addition). Overall I would say the foods are overpriced but I think it is worth it coz you cannot find these kind of food elsewhere…..They created the food and fusioned it, ada yang kena, ada juga yang tak kena so it’s very subjective to say tak sedap or sedap secara direct. It depends on every individual taste buds. It is an acquired taste and I will definitely come back for certain foods that I like.

How to get here? Just go to Empire Subang and go out thru Coach, pass by Starbucks and you’ll see Jibby & Co, an building on its own just outside the valet parking. Enjoy your food and bring extra Agong’s head (just in case you want to tapau dessert).

New Magnolia Gotcha Safari

Ice cream, ice cream we scream for ice cream!!!…wah beriya-iyanya nyanyi…My kids memang crazy about ice cream…it’s the first thing that they would want be it in any circumstances. But, who doesn’t kan? Ibunya pun sama. So, when F&N contacted me to give free ice cream, I wouldn’t miss it….straight away e-mailed back to try the new Magnolia Gotcha Safari ice creams.

IMG_7728

This was the pack that we received. A box with 6 lollies (2 Zebras, 2 Tigers and 2 Leopards). You must be wondering why they are named with animals names?….well, it’s because Magnolia Gotcha Safari wants to make learning fun with facts on each ice cream stick. How?  By reading reading the facts about the animal on the wrapper and then savouring the unique taste of the ice cream.

The zebra variant comes with a blend of cola and lemon lime, the tiger has an interesting blend of chocolate and vanilla while the leopard has a blend of orange and grape flavours.

Amir loves the chocolate vanilla flavour while I love the cola and lime…so yummy we finished the lollioes in 2 days!

IMG_7730 Amir when trying the cola and lime flavour

IMG_7729 Amar loves the orange and grape flavour

You can get them in local stores, leading hypermarkets or supermarkets at RM1.50 per stick (so cheap!) or have a box of 4 lollies at RM5.80 per pack. If you happen to have the ‘lucky’ stick, you will win prizes as stated on the stick. Attractive prizes such as iPad Air, iPod Shuffle and bicycles awaits winners. Contest still running now until June 2014.

F&N Magnolia will also be going on a fun and educational roadshow nationwide to promote this new ice cream. Visitors can look for freebies, balloons and also a photo opportunity with Gotcha Safari Mascot at the roadshows.

First, we had the poster up and set the table with a black cloth.

Lepas tu semua lesap pegi swimming, tak peduli pun ada dessert candy bagai…pool party memang syoklah, just because I was pregnant at that time, I tak masuk pool, kalau tak, syoknya berendam dalam air sejukkk…
